Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary at Thekkady is 155 kms from Madurai. Situated in Kerala, the forest of this beautiful sanctuary slopes down to a manmade lake. The motor boat ride allows one to view wildlife in their natural habitat. Elephant, gaur, sambhar, bear, even tigers and leopards come down to drink from the lake.
